Transitiong to Natural Hair: Tip of the Day

Allot of women are afraid to transition to natural hair because of fear. They are afraid of not being pretty! There are plenty of ways to be pretty as you transition. We will look at several ways to preserve your sexy as you transition.

Style One: The Braid Out

This is a VERY easy style to do and it can last anywhere from 3 days to a week. It all depends on how well you keep it.

Things you will need:

Clips
Wide tooth Comb
Setting Agent
Rollers
PATIENCE

Basically you braid your hair in cornrows while it is damp. Once your hair dries, you take it down and you have crinkly, wavy locs. Here are a few pics of me with this style. GREAT transitioning style because the two textures blend well and there is no Reversion.

Hey Tonya! This is soooo cute! I'm curious as to what a twist out might look like vs. this braidout. I'm 4 months into my transition and am getting to the phase where I have to start styling my relaxed ends to match my natural roots. Right now I'm wearing curls/spirals but want to do a twist or braidout. Can you post pics of your twist outs too?

Hey Patrice!

I will dig up a pic of a twist out tonight and post it. The waves are neater and a little more uniform with a twist out.

And THANKS! :-)

You are so pretty. Love the color that was in your hair. Thanks for the tip. I am 10 months post and these relaxed ends are getting on my nerve. But I don't want to cute them cause they allow me to pull my hair back in a pony when needed. Catch 22.

Thanks ladies. Molove...I waited until I had enough hair to pull back into a ponytail before I chopped. Phony pony's were my BEST friend!
